Ziarah Seni Madani: Sathiya, Dino Touched By Communications Ministry, Finas’ Concern

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) — The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) Ziarah Seni MADANI programme brought smiles to seasoned artistes Dino and Sathiya today, as they expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture and concern shown by the Ministry of Communications and FINAS.

Dino, 50, a member of the group Nico G, is currently recuperating at his home in Kampung Baru here after suffering a stroke three weeks ago, which has left him unable to work or perform.

“The doctor said I had a mild stroke. I’ve been allowed to return home, but I still can’t move my right arm and leg, and I’m struggling to speak.

“I used to perform and work at a clothing store to earn a living, but now everything has stopped and it’s affected my income. So today’s help really means a lot. Without my friends and the ministry, I don’t know what would’ve happened,” said Dino, whose real name is Mohd Shah Rosli.

Established in 1992, Nico G gained popularity through songs like Inilah Nasibku and Untukmu Sayang, and was made up of Dino, Affa, and the late Nico, or Abdul Fashah Abdul Aziz, who passed away in April.

At the programme, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching handed over cash aid and essential items to help ease the burden of artistes facing health issues and financial hardship.

FINAS chairman Datuk Hans Isaac and chief executive officer Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib were also present.

Veteran comedian Sathiya, 61, who is currently receiving treatment at Ampang Hospital for a bacterial infection in his left leg, also expressed his gratitude for the assistance.

“I’m doing well. I’m expected to be discharged this evening and hope to return to filming soon…I’m really thankful for this initiative; it really helps ease the burden,” said the actor, whose real name is Sathia Periasamy.

Sathiya, best known for his role as Ravi in the sitcom Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu, recently underwent surgery to amputate three parts of his left foot, including the big toe, due to the infection. He has also suffered three strokes since August last year.
