KOTA KINABALU: A witness statement in the ongoing inquest on Zara Qairina Mahathir’s death suggested that some handwriting in the documents and books tendered as exhibits might not belong to her.
Document examiner Nurul Atiqah Mohd Noh said the disputed documents labelled Y1 to Y7, and Y9 to Y15, showed significant similarities to the handwriting of the subject “SA”, believed to belong to Zara.
For documents labelled Y8, there were also significant similarities on the handwriting when compared with the items labelled SA, she said.
For documents labelled W1 and W2, W3 (pages 3 to 6, 15 to 24, 38 to 45, 47 to 57, 65 to 72 and 90 to 103), the handwriting were also similar to subject SA’s.
However, for pages 2, 7 to 14, 25 to 37, 46, 58 to 64 and 73 to 89 in document W3, the handwriting differed from SA’s, Nurul told the court.
“Therefore I am of the opinion that the handwriting in these disputed documents was not by SA,” she said.
She said page 1 of document W3, contained a mixture of handwriting similar and not similar to SA’s handwriting.
However, it is unclear whether these handwriting and documents were from her textbooks, or notebooks or her diary because this detail was not mentioned in court as yet.
The inquest continues at 2pm.
