KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — The inquest into the death of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir resumed at the Coroner’s Court in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, today, with a witness session featuring the hostel’s Chief Warden, Azhari Abd Sagap.
The eighth witness is expected to answer questions posed by lawyers representing the late girl’s mother, as well as lawyers representing her father and the accused child, according to a report publshed by Harian Metro today.
Yesterday, Azhari was only questioned by the mother’s lawyer, Shahlan Jufri, on matters including the discovery of the late student’s diary at her school, allegations of theft, and the daily routines of hostel students under his supervision.
Shahlan is expected to continue his questioning in today’s proceedings.
Previously, the 31-year-old chief warden also addressed the issue of a public phone at the hostel that had been closed on the day of the incident, following the discovery of Zara unconscious under the hostel building.
In total, 60 more witnesses are expected to be called after eight witnesses have already given evidence over the 10 days of the inquest so far.
