Zaliha Directs JWP To Deal With Traditional Village And Land Issues In KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) — The Federal Territories Department (JWP) has been asked to pay immediate attention to issues plaguing traditional villages in Kuala Lumpur, including those concerning foreign residents, infrastructure maintenance and land use status.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said other issues that needed attention included the situation of agricultural land that has been occupied with residential structures without approval.

“I have instructed JWP to pay special attention to issues plaguing traditional villages in Kuala Lumpur,” she said in her Facebook post today.

Dr Zaliha said the directive was issued while chairing the Meeting of Heads of Agencies under the Federal Territories Department at the FT Land and Mines Office today.

She said the effort is in line with initiatives to strengthen land governance and ensure that development in the Federal Territories proceeds in an orderly manner based on data and is focused on community well-being.

According to Dr Zaliha, during the meeting, the Mobil e-Tanah application, which will be officially launched on Nov 11, was also introduced. The app is to streamline the people’s access to land information and services in the Federal Territory more easily and transparently.

She added that agencies under the JWP also presented comprehensive updates on initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and asset management using new energy technologies in support of green building certification and reduce government electricity cost, in line with the CHASE City agenda at the meeting (CHASE is an acronym for Clean-Healthy-Advanced-Safe-Eco).
