SHANGHAI: The Shanghai Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MayCham) must continue playing a vital role in strengthening and boosting economic ties between the two nations.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said MayCham has been a bridge for trade and investments between Malaysia and China since 2005.
He said it also plays an important role in supporting Malaysian companies operating in China, as well as assisting Chinese companies to explore their investment opportunities in Malaysia.
This, he said, was especially so in the halal sector, in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), green techonology and digital economy.
“May MayCham continue to be a bridge connecting the Malaysia-China business community based on value, integrity and mutual benefit,” he said in a meeting with Shanghai MayCham members.
Zahiid expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of Shanghai MayCham for their continuous efforts in fostering strategic networks between the two countries.
The rural and regional development minister, who is on the third day of his working visit to China, also met with key stakeholders in China’s halal sector.
This is part of the government’s strategy to explore new potential while strengthening Malaysia’s position as a leader in the global halal industry.
