Zahid dismisses claims of BN-Warisan secret pact in Sabah polls

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed claims of a ‘secret pact’ between Barisan Nasional () and Parti Warisan (Warisan) to form the next Sabah government after the election.

Zahid, who is chairman, said he has never held any discussions with Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal regarding any form of cooperation.

“If there were any cooperation, there would certainly be no clash between and Warisan candidates during this election,” he said during a media engagement session here today.

However, Zahid did not rule out the possibility of cooperation with any parties after the election results on Nov 29.

“We do not rule out the possibility of holding negotiations and forming a government after the results are announced.

“This is because no single party or coalition can form the government on its own,” he said.

It was reported today that 596 candidates will compete in 73 seats for the 17th Sabah general election.
