SHAH ALAM: A 22-year-old pastry diploma student has used the RM100 Bantuan Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid to start a dessert business during her semester break.
Azreeqa Adzreen Mohd Kamanorhisham, a Food Institute of Malaysia student, invested the funds to buy basic ingredients for “kek batik indulgence.”
Her mother, Farrah Heeda Abd Ghaffar, added other costs such as containers and chocolate, reported Sinar Harian.
“She managed to make about 90 containers of indulgence batik cake, all sold out at RM10 each, earning around RM350,” Farrah said.
The venture gained attention when Azreeqa received special orders, including brownies for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s grandchild.
Increased demand led to contributions of equipment, including a commercial chiller.
Farrah said her daughter hopes to open her own café one day, adding: “This shows that even small aid can be a useful capital for young people to start a business and become independent.”
