KLANG: A woman was killed after the motorcycle she was riding pillion collided with a trailer at Jalan Pelabuhan Barat while heading towards here from Pulau Indah yesterday.
The accident, which went viral on social media, happened about 1.20pm, involving a motorcycle ridden by a 40-year-old man, his Indonesian wife and their 10-year-old daughter.
Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa said initial investigations showed that the motorcycle was weaving between several heavy vehicles when it grazed against a lorry trailer.
“The motorcycle skidded and fell in the middle of the road. The trailer behind could not avoid them and ran over the man’s wife, who was riding pillion,” he said in a statement today.
Ramli said the woman died at the scene and her body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (TAR) Hospital for a post-mortem.
“The rider and their daughter only sustained minor injuries and received treatment at TAR Hospital. The trailer driver was unharmed,” he said.
Ramli called on road users, especially motorcyclists, to ride carefully and remain vigilant.
“We advise all road users, especially motorcyclists, to be cautious while on the road and to always stay focused on riding,” he added.
