ALOR GAJAH: A 35-year-old woman was taken on a terror ride yesterday after she was allegedly kidnapped by her jilted ex-boyfriend, who threatened her with a samurai sword and a knife.
The terrifying ordeal unfolded near a mosque in Kampung Melaka Pindah, when the 38-year-old suspect arrived in a car with an accomplice at around 4.30pm.
Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspect got out of the rear passenger door, approached the victim while brandishing a knife about 25 centimetres long, and ordered her into the vehicle.
“Because the victim refused to comply, the suspect then threatened her at the neck with the knife before lifting and pushing her into the car.
“Inside the car, the suspect allegedly stomped on her chest and repeatedly punched her head as she struggled to free herself, before stopping at a rest area.
“The victim was then forced into another car while being threatened with a knife, as the accomplice’s car drove off.
“The suspect told the victim she would be taken to a certain place before driving with a samurai sword pointed at her chest, warning her not to resist,” he said in a statement.
Terrified, the victim asked to stop because she was thirsty. The suspect obliged, stopping at a convenience store in Taman Sutera Indah, Kelemak, to buy water.
Alone in the locked car, the victim sent a WhatsApp message to her husband, sharing her location and seeking help.
“The suspect then drove her to a village house in Alor Gajah. Shortly after, her two siblings arrived, leading to a scuffle with the suspect.
“In the chaos, the victim managed to escape from the car and threw a flower pot at the suspect, hitting his face and knocking him down,” he said.
Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene and took both the victim and suspect to Alor Gajah Hospital.
The victim suffered stab wounds, received four stitches, and was referred to Melaka Hospital.
The suspect was detained, and checks showed he has two criminal records and eight drug-related offences.
“Currently, the incident is believed to have been motivated by the victim’s refusal to reconcile with the suspect, who is already married with children, despite previous attempts to win her back,” Dzulkhairi said.
The case is being investigated under Sections 363 and 326 of the Penal Code.
