KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — A naked man who allegedly crept into a young woman’s apartment before attacking and robbing her of her mobile phone has been arrested.
According to Berita Harian, the incident took place at an apartment in Taman Sri Sentosa on Old Klang Road in Kuala Lumpur around 3pm on Thursday when the 20-year-old victim was hanging out her laundry.
Police said the 27-year-old suspect slipped into her home through an unlocked yard.
Hearing the grille door open, the woman thought her housemate had returned — only to turn around and find a naked stranger walking towards her.
When she tried to run, he blocked her way.
“A struggle broke out, leaving the victim with bruises and scratches on her thigh, lips and hand.
“The suspect also threatened to kill her and demanded money,” said Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook.
The woman tried to use her phone to call for help, but the man snatched it away and fled when she refused to give him her password.
The national daily said police later tracked him down to the same area and arrested him at 7.12pm that evening.
Officers seized three phones — including the victim’s — along with a laptop, a backpack, clothes and slippers.
Investigations revealed the man had 12 prior criminal records and seven drug-related offences. He also tested positive for cannabis.
“He admitted to several earlier robberies and claimed he did it to cover his daily expenses,” Hoo added.
The suspect has been remanded for five days until November 13 for further investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
