PETALING JAYA:

A 27-year-old woman was found dead in a condominium unit in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said the homeowner was trying to contact the tenant but failed to get in touch with her, Berita Harian reported.

The condominium’s management then detected a foul smell coming from the unit, prompting the owner to contact the cops.

“After forcing the door open, police found the deceased in the bathroom,” he said, adding that the body had already started decomposing.

Hoo said the house was locked from the inside while the woman’s personal belongings were still in the unit. She had been living there alone since early this year and was believed to be running an online business selling clothes.

He said the homeowner last contacted her on Sept 4 over rent arrears.

“Police will take the statements of the victim’s family members,” he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death while an autopsy will be held today.
