GUA MUSANG, Sept 5 — A Nepalese plantation worker suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant near Metro Blau Estate, Pos Blau, here on Wednesday.

Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the victim, Muhammad Shukri Abdulah, whose original name is Muti Bahadur Bayambu, 54, was on his way home at about 5.30pm when the incident occurred.

He said the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, spotted elephant footprints and tried to track the animal before it suddenly grabbed him with its trunk and dragged him about 100 metres.

“The victim was also trampled and taken down a slope before being found by fellow workers who heard his cries for help,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The man was taken to Gua Musang Hospital and is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit for severe injuries to his legs, chest and neck, he added. — Bernama
