PETALING JAYA:
Men’s doubles shuttlers Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun defeated French brothers Christo-Toma Jr Popov in the opening round of the China Masters today.
Despite the Frenchmen having played their singles matches earlier, they gave the Malaysian world No 8 pair a run for their money, forcing a decider after losing the first game.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun eventually closed out the match 21-11, 25-27, 21-15 in just under an hour.
This was their fourth straight win over the French world No 17 pair.
They will next face either Japan’s Kenya Mitsuhashi-Hiroki Okamura or Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagus Maulana.
