PETALING JAYA:

Malaysia’s world No 7 men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun failed to make it to the finals of the Indonesia Open, falling to a home pair who were buoyed up by an often-disruptive capacity crowd at the Istora Stadium in Jakarta.

They lost to the 8th-ranked pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 18-21, 21-12, 18-21 in a 59-minute match that was marred by the crowd booing each time the Malaysians served.

The defeat was their second in three encounters between the two pairs, and dashed Wei Chong-Kai Wun’s hopes of winning another title in Jakarta this year after the Indonesian Master’s victory in January.
