KOTA KINABALU: A police report was lodged by Warisan’s Youth wing over a viral video alleging document forgery at the Kunak District Office, calling for a full and transparent investigation.

The report was filed by Lahad Datu Warisan Youth chief, Mohd Nazreen Kassim, at the Lahad Datu police Headquarters at 3.33pm on Saturday (May 10).

In his report, Mohd Nazreen said the nearly three-minute video, which has been widely shared on social media, appears to show a meeting involving Kunak assemblywoman Datuk Norazlinah Arif.

During the meeting, one of the attendees made an open allegation of document forgery at the Kunak District Office and claimed to possess evidence to support the accusation.

“We take these remarks very seriously, as they concern administrative integrity, good governance, and the broader interests of the people and state of Sabah,” said Mohd Nazreen.

He said the report was lodged to urge the authorities to conduct a thorough, fair, and transparent investigation into the claims made.

“We hope the investigation will be carried out in a manner that preserves public confidence in government institutions,” he added.

Meanwhile, Norazlinah, when contacted, downplayed the incident, describing it as a misunderstanding that took place during a planning meeting on Tuesday (May 6) for an upcoming programme in Kunak.

She said the attendee began raising his voice, and despite her attempts to steer the discussion back to the agenda, continued making offensive and vulgar remarks.

“At one point, I told him, ‘I think you better stop … you’re going too far,’ and when he persisted, I said, ‘Please get out’.

“He started calling me a ‘katak’ (political frog) and said he would ensure I lose in the next election. I simply replied, ‘Insya-Allah, saya izinkan’ (God willing, I allow it)’,” she recounted.

Norazlinah had previously been part of Warisan before joining Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS).

Norazlinah said she remained composed until the man began using highly inappropriate language directed at both her and the Kunak District Officer, Majaran Osman.

“It was deeply disrespectful, not just to me as an assemblyman and a woman, but also as chair of the meeting.

“I had already asked him to leave peacefully, but he kept hurling baseless accusations. That chapter is closed for me. I do not intend to prolong the matter,” she said

She said several people had urged her to release a video explaining the incident, but she declined.

“I don’t want to escalate the situation. If I respond, the other side will retaliate, and it will never end.”

Norazlinah added that the meeting continued smoothly after the disruption and that she remained firm throughout.

“It was a misunderstanding, but sadly, he chose to behave inappropriately. Now, some Opposition figures are using the incident for political attacks,” she said.
