SEMPORNA: Parti Warisan (Warisan) has confirmed that it will contest all 73 state seats in the 17th Sabah state election, which is scheduled to be held later this year.
Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the party has already shortlisted potential candidates for all the seats.
“With that, we will contest all 73 available seats and we already have potential candidates lined up.
“We are just waiting for the announcement (of the election date),” he told reporters after attending a meet-the-people session at Kampung Imam Laggu, Jalan Kunak-Semporna, tonight.
Shafie also listed three key criteria for candidates who will be fielded by the party in the coming state polls.
“First, candidates must be winnable.
“Second, they must not be prone to party-hopping.
“And third, they must be committed to serving the people.
“We don’t want a situation where someone becomes a candidate and later an elected representative, only to abandon the people and damage the party.
“Don’t shut the door on the people—don’t go missing after winning, only to resurface at the next state election. That’s our concern.
“We want to ensure that our service to the people is consistent and not seasonal,” he added.
