The entry visa of missing British teenager David Balisong, 17, is set to expire on Sept 4.
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said records showed that Balisong arrived on June 7 on a three-month visa.
“God willing, if nothing happens to him, he will leave the country once his visa expires and we will be able to trace his movements,” Bernama reported Shazeli as saying in Shah Alam today.
He said police are continuing their efforts to locate Balisong with information provided by his mother and other parties.
“We are following up on all leads, but his whereabouts remain unknown,” he said.
The A-level student vanished from his home in Cheadle, Greater Manchester in the UK on June 6, before secretly boarding a one-way flight to Malaysia.
He had left home early that day, telling his brother he had school matters to deal with, but flew alone from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur instead.
He has since switched off his phone and is not responding to emails.
His last known contact was on July 9, when he emailed his mother, asking her not to worry and to stop searching for him, and apologising for his actions while wishing his family success in life.
