KUALA LUMPUR: A viral video purportedly showing the Malaysian flag flown upside down at a company’s premises in Bandar Pinggiran Subang, Shah Alam, has been confirmed to be from an incident that occurred last year.
Sungai Buloh Police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the premises over the past few days showed the Malaysian flag was flown correctly, contrary to what was depicted in the viral video.
“The 2024 incident occurred when a newly purchased Malaysian flag was being put up, but the mistake was corrected once it was noticed. However, the video was reshared this year by a TikTok user.
“Police received a report on Saturday (Aug 9) from the company’s project manager, who denied the allegations in the social media posting,” he said in a statement on Sunday. – Bernama
