KUALA LUMPUR: A video of United States President Donald dancing to local music during his visit to Malaysia for the 47th Asean Summit and related summits has gone viral on social media, attracting 37.9 million views across various platforms.

“This video that @margomartin captured of President dancing in Malaysia has just surpassed one million likes on our @TeamTrump Instagram and has a whopping 21.5 million views. It also has 17.1 million views on Facebook and 9.3 million on TikTok,” he said in a post on X.

Special Assistant to the President and Communications Advisor Margo Martin said the clip, which shows Trump engaging warmly with delegates and joining in a dance to local music, “may just be (her) favourite video captured yet”.

The video has also drawn numerous reactions from users on X, such as from user @KarlDHarrison, who commented: “The reality is that Trump loves people and it shows. They love him back. It burns the pseudo-intellectuals but it’s true.”

Meanwhile, @kellyannelu said the clip reflected Trump’s approachable nature.

“He’s travelling so much but still has the energy to stop and have some fun dancing. This makes me smile,” she wrote.

The US President arrived in Malaysia at around 10am on Sunday (Oct 26) and departed at 10.06am the following day, marking the conclusion of his maiden visit to Malaysia and his first participation in an Asean Leaders’ Summit since beginning his second presidency in January 2025.

Trump is the third US president in history to visit Malaysia, after Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 and Barack Obama in 2014 and 2015.

Malaysia holds the Asean chairmanship this year under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.
