KUALA LUMPUR: A war of words with foul language led to the arrest of a business owner after a heated argument with another tenant on the same floor.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said that the victim, a 58-year-old saloon owner, filed a police report on the incident on Aug 26 after the argument.

“The suspect, who is also a business owner on the same floor, had scolded the victim and used foul language that scared customers at the saloon that were there, as well as other members of the public.

“An arrest was made on Aug 28 in the Ampang area on a 46-year-old woman. The motive of the incident was found to be a personal issue between the two where the suspect would often tell negative stories about the complainant. Both were also jealous of each other’s businesses.

“The suspect has since been granted bail on Aug 30,” he said.

He added that there had been no physical altercation and that problems between the two had started since two months ago.

“The investigation paper has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office for further action. The case is being investigated under sections 506 (for criminal intimidation) and 509 (for insulting someone’s modesty) of the Penal Code as well as under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act,” he said.
