[UPDATED] Bersatu sacks Supreme Council member Saifuddin Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has sacked its Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah with immediate effect.

Saifuddin, who is also the Indera Mahkota member of Parliament, confirmed the matter when contacted.

He said he would appeal against the party’s decision.

“It’s true. (I ) Will appeal,” he told the New Straits Times.

Malaysia Gazette, which sighted a letter issued by the party’s Disciplinary Board, reported that the decision to sack Saifuddin was made at a party meeting held yesterday.

According to the letter, the decision was made under Clause 22.5 of the party’s Constitution for actions that allegedly contravened Clause 9.1.4.

The report said the letter was signed by Bersatu Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan.

In November last year, Saifuddin was summoned by the Bersatu Disciplinary Board for investigations over allegations that he was involved in a move to topple party president Tan Sri Yassin.
