MANILA (Bernama-PNA): As many as 17 cyclones are expected to develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) from this month until January 2026, the Philippines News Agency (PNA) quoted the country’s weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said two or three cyclones are expected to affect the country this August.
Between September and October, the country could experience two to four cyclones, followed by two or three in November, one or two in December, and possibly one or none in January.
Meanwhile, the bureau said a tropical cyclone-like vortex could form in the eastern section of its monitoring domain between Aug 1 and 7, but it has a slim chance of intensifying into a cyclone.
The system may enter the PAR between Aug 8 and 14, though it is still unlikely to develop further, it added. – Bernama-PNA
