PETALING JAYA:

A private university in Kuala Lumpur has confirmed that one of its students who was reported missing has died.

However, UCSI University did not provide any details about Sithu Hpone Maw’s death.

In a statement, the university said Sithu was a valued member of the UCSI community and will be fondly remembered for his spirit, dedication, and happiness he brought to those around him.

“We stand in solidarity with his family, friends and loved ones during this time of profound loss.

“We also empathise with the Myanmar community on campus as we mourn this tragic loss together,” it said.

Cheras deputy police chief Ridzuan Khalid said yesterday police were investigating Sithu’s disappearance after the university’s management lodged a report.

He said Sithu, 20, was last seen on July 9 at a rented unit at Angkasa Condominium in Taman Connaught, Cheras.
