KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians must remain united regardless of race and religion to ensure the country’s prosperity and strength, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Housing and Local Government Minister said with the country celebrating its 68th National Day, the government is committed to building a prosperous, peaceful and progressive nation.

Nga stressed that unity and harmony are the two key foundations of a successful nation, without which a multiracial society could not achieve stability and might descend into turmoil.

“A Malay child is our child, a Chinese child is our child, and an Indian child is our child.

“Iban, Kadazan, Dusun, Dayak, they are all our children, and this is not just a slogan but the struggle of the Madani government, which upholds inclusivity.

“When all races respect and care for one another like one big family, we can restore Malaysia’s glory,” he said at the Sentuhan 3.0 programme here on Thursday (Aug 28).

Nga added that under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim’s leadership, several progressive reforms had been implemented.

The reforms include the reinstatement of the Parliamentary Services Act to strengthen the separation of powers, granting citizenship rights to children born abroad to Malaysian mothers, as well as the passing of the Government Procurement Act to ensure transparency.

“Diversity and openness are at the heart of nation-building.

“Only with unity among all races can Malaysia continue moving towards a brighter future,” Nga added.
