Unemployed man pleads guilty to stabbing farmer near Kuantan

KUANTAN: An unemployed man pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court on Thursday (Nov 6) to causing grievous hurt to a farmer by stabbing him in the abdomen last Friday (Oct 31).

Jabalul Akhir Mat Shafie, 25, was charged with intentionally inflicting injuries that could have been life-threatening on Nik Zuraidi Mohamed, 38, by stabbing him with a weapon at Jalan Bakti, Kampung Sri Damai Batu 7, Jalan Gambang near here at 6.40pm on Oct 31.

The charge falls under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison, and may also include a fine or whipping upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Azizah Ahmad proposed that the court deny bail for the accused, who was unrepresented.

Judge Sazlina Safie denied bail and fixed Nov 12 for case mention and sentencing. — Bernama
