An Umno MP from Sabah has told Warisan to stop portraying itself as the “hero of Sabah” and exploiting state sentiments for political gain.
“If you are only fighting for votes, you are not fighting for the state,” Suhaimi Nasir (BN-Libaran) said when debating the Supply (Budget) 2026 Bill in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He also defended the participation of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Sabah, pointing out that both coalitions have local party representation through Parti Bersatu Sabah and Upko, respectively.
“Your own party (Warisan) has members and branches in Johor, Selangor, and Kedah. Don’t pretend to be Sabah’s hero,” he said, also criticising the tendency to blame peninsula-based parties for election losses.
Earlier, Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Warisan-Kota Belud) urged Sabahans to “take charge of Sabah and save Sabah” when she debated the bill.
She said that local parties hold 58% of state assembly seats in Sabah, compared with Sarawak, where local parties control 98% of the seats.
