KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will deliver a protest note to the leadership of all component parties within the unity government that have accepted, or plan to accept, its members into their ranks.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the note is a strong warning that such actions, if left unresolved, could strain relations within the coalition.
“Umno will deliver a note of protest to all leadership of the component parties within the unity government who intend or have allowed the entry of Umno members into their respective parties.
“This protest serves as a stern warning that, if left unaddressed, the matter could strain relations between the component parties,” he said at a press conference after the party’s supreme council meeting last night.
On May 30, Supreme Council member Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz resigned from all posts in Umno, including his membership, and later expressed his intention to join PKR.
On Aug 8, he confirmed that his application to join PKR had been accepted and is now a member of the Ampang PKR division.
