KUALA LUMPUR: UCSI University has confirmed the death of architecture student Sithu Hpone Maw, who was reported missing on July 9.
“We mourn the passing of Sithu Hpone Maw, a valued member of the UCSI community,” the university said in a Facebook post today.
“Sithu will be fondly remembered for his spirit, dedication, and the happiness he brought to those around him.”
Previously, Cheras police said they received a report about a missing foreign student from UCSI University.
The report was lodged by a representative from the university management after Sithu could not be contacted. He was last seen on July 9 at his rented residence in Ankasa Condo, Taman Connaught, Cheras.
The university expressed its support for those affected, adding, “We stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and loved ones during this time of profound loss.”
“We also empathise with the Myanmar community on campus as we mourn this tragic loss together. May he rest in peace,” the statement added.
It is understood that Sithu, from Myanmar, was a second-year student pursuing a degree in architecture at the university.
