NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 220.43 points, or 0.48 percent, to 45,400.86. The S&P 500 sank 20.58 points, or 0.32 percent, to 6,481.5. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 7.31 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 21,700.39.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended lower, with energy and financials leading the laggards by losing 2.06 percent and 1.84 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, real estate and communication services led the gainers by adding 0.98 percent and 0.55 percent, respectively.
