NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 350.06 points, or 0.77 percent, to 45,621.29. The S&P 500 added 53.82 points, or 0.83 percent, to 6,502.08. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 209.97 points, or 0.98 percent, to close at 21,707.69.
Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended higher, with consumer discretionary and communication services leading the gainers by adding 2.25 percent and 1.12 percent, respectively. While, utilities slipped 0.16 percent.
