NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Thursday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.21 percent to 98.348 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1644 dollars from 1.1662 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound slipped to 1.3426 dollars from 1.3442 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 148.56 Japanese yen, higher than 147.97 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8063 Swiss francs from 0.8040 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3829 Canadian dollars from 1.3797 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.4732 Swedish kronor from 9.4280 Swedish kronor.
