NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.35 percent to 98.519 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1612 dollars from 1.1656 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound slipped to 1.3436 dollars from 1.3453 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 148.14 Japanese yen, higher than 147.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8123 Swiss francs from 0.8077 Swiss francs and to 1.3778 Canadian dollars from 1.3751 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.6382 Swedish kronor from 9.5640 Swedish kronor.
