NEW YORK, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.02 percent to 97.549 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1741 dollars from 1.1736 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3570 dollars from 1.3579 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.49 Japanese yen, higher than 147.18 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.7959 Swiss francs from 0.7956 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3839 Canadian dollars from 1.3837 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.3218 Swedish kronor from 9.3090 Swedish kronor.
