NEW YORK, May 5 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.2 percent to 99.828 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1313 U.S. dollars from 1.1300 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3289 dollars from 1.3274 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.92 Japanese yen, lower than 145.03 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.8229 Swiss francs from 0.8271 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3815 Canadian dollars from 1.3813 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 9.6720 Swedish Kronor from 9.6584 Swedish Kronor.
