KUALA LUMPUR: Two people were injured when a car skidded and became wedged at the Sungai Long toll plaza on the Kajang SILK Highway towards Semenyih early this morning.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the accident occurred at about 6.20am when the vehicle, driven by a 24-year-old local man with a 20-year-old woman passenger, was heading from Balakong to Semenyih.
“Upon arriving at the Sungai Long toll plaza, the driver is believed to have lost control when entering the Touch ‘n Go lane and hit the barrier before skidding into the toll lane.
“Both victims suffered injuries and are currently being treated at Kajang Hospital,” he said in a statement today.
Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving causing an accident.
If convicted, the driver can be fined not less than RM5,000 and up to RM10,000, or imprisoned for not more than 12 months.
“The police urge all road users to always be careful, comply with traffic regulations, and practise safe driving for the safety of all,” he said.
Members of the public with information on the incident are urged to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sergeant Khairil Azuat Khairol Anuwar, at 018-9007723 to assist with investigations.
