KUALA LUMPUR: A 19-year-old trainee pilot died after falling from the 39th floor of an apartment block in Sungai Besi late last night.
In the 10.53pm incident, the teenager was found unconscious on the roof of a parked car in front of a nasi kandar restaurant of the building.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan said the incident was reported by the public, and investigations revealed that the victim had rushed out of his apartment and ran towards the staircase leading up to the 39th floor.
“Closed-circuit television camera footage showed the victim’s movements. Broken glass and his mobile phone were also found at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
A medical team from Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz confirmed the victim’s death at 11.34pm. His body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
Aidil said the victim’s family described him as a quiet person who didn’t have a girlfriend and showed no signs of depression.
“He had been living with a housemate at the apartment unit. We will record the housemate’s statement this morning to assist with further investigations,” he added.
The case has been classified as sudden death.
