KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — A Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) officer was injured in a collision while escorting an international delegation attending the 47th Asean Summit along Jalan Tun Razak near the PWTC slip road today.
Police said the 25-year-old lance corporal was riding a Royal Malaysia Police Honda VFR 800P5 motorcycle when a Perodua Alza suddenly swerved from the left lane to the right.
Bukit Aman JSPT director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the incident, which occurred at about 11.45am, caused the officer to suffer a fractured left wrist and cuts to his lip.
“The victim was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment,” he said, adding that the accident is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He also advised the public to be more cautious and attentive to convoy movements throughout the Asean Summit.
This is the second crash in two days.
Yesterday, another police outrider was injured after being hit by a Toyota Hilux four-wheel-drive vehicle near the Dengkil Rest and Service (R&R) area on the Elite Highway while escorting an international delegation for the 47th Asean Summit.
