KUALA LUMPUR:

The Track World Cup will return to Malaysia next year after a 25-year absence.

The event is scheduled to take place at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, from April 24 to April 26.

Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Amarjit Singh Gill revealed today that Malaysia has received official confirmation from the International Cycling Union (UCI) to host the final round of the 2026 Track World Cup.

“We are grateful to the government, especially the youth and sports ministry, for the strong support given, as well as to the UCI for the confidence and trust placed in Malaysia.

“This championship will be a historic moment for the sport of cycling in the nation and for the Asian region. It will serve as a major platform for qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” he said in a statement.

Amarjit, who is also the Asian Cycling Confederation president, said MNCF will actively promote the championship to ensure the participation of the world’s top riders in Nilai.

He also expressed confidence that national track cycling ace Azizulhasni Awang and teammate Shah Firdaus Sahrom will compete in the 2026 Track World Cup.
