As the House of Representatives inches closer to deliberate the much-awaited asset forfeiture bill, antigraft observers have stressed the need for public participation and transparency for its deliberations to prevent any loopholes in the legislation that could allow corruption convicts to hold on to the results of their malfeasance.

 

2.ARMY CORPORAL CHARGED IN ABDUCTION, MURDER OF STATE BANK BRANCH HEAD — JAKARTA GLOBE

Indonesian military police have detained an Army corporal accused of acting as a go-between in the abduction and killing of a state-owned bank branch manager, a case that has drawn national attention for its scale and planning.

1.FARMING TO UPLIFT RURAL LIVELIHOODS — THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The government wants to improve the agriculture sector to enhance the socioeconomic life of the rural community and reduce the unemployment in the country. It also plans to raise trade with by producing more livestock and farm products.

 

2.PUBLIC-PRIVATE PACT TO RAISE RICE EXPORTS — THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

A public-private dialogue was held to fix fair paddy prices for farmers during harvest and to boost exports. Participants also discussed providing fertiliser, agricultural loans, installation of solar power at rice mills and construction of rice mills.

Ho Chi Minh City will increase foreign ownership in real estate projects to attract more overseas investments and transform the city into a real estate hub in Southeast Asia. The city announced an additional 48 projects eligible for sale to foreigners.

 

2.COCONUT INDUSTRY EXPORTS TO REACH RM4 BILLION — VIETNAMPLUS

Coconut related exports is forecast to touch about RM4 billion (US$1billion) this year, making it one of the world’s top five exporters. Exports include fresh and frozen coconuts, coconut milk, crude coconut oil, food and cosmetics made from the fruit.
