PUTATAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has confirmed that there will be no seat clashes between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming 17th Sabah general election.
Mohamad, who is also Umno deputy president, said that while BN‘s internal discussions on seat allocations are still ongoing, both parties in the Madani government will not contest against each other.
“BN’s machinery must continue working until polling day on Nov 29 to ensure BN’s victory in the upcoming election,” he told reporters after attending a community gathering with Kampung Contoh residents yesterday.
The Election Commission has set Nov 15 as nomination day, with early voting on Nov 25 and polling on Nov 29.
Meanwhile, Mohamad proposed Putatan Umno Division chief Jeffrey Nor Mohamed as Umno‘s candidate for the Tanjung Keramat state seat.
He said Jeffrey Nor’s loyalty and efforts to rebuild Umno’s presence in Putatan made him a strong contender.
“We support Jeffrey Nor as the candidate for Tanjung Keramat due to the strong support from the local community, but we will wait for the official announcement from the leadership,” he said.— BERNAMA
