KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme has boosted the national economy, generating revenue of RM1.6 billion.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the programme, which allows foreign nationals to reside in Malaysia long-term, has approved 2,318 principal applicants and 4,197 dependants.
“This programme has spurred the economy. The revenue recorded is around RM1.6 billion,” he told the Dewan Rakyat today during his Supply Bill 2025 winding-up speech.
He also assured that Malaysians will not be negatively affected by the migration of foreign nationals, as the cabinet has set specific rules for MM2H participants.
“The conditions for MM2H have been agreed by the cabinet, taking into account matters such as property purchases. The state government then decides the locations where property can be bought,” he explained.
Tiong added that the Tourism Ministry would assist tour guides seeking to master additional languages through Tourism Malaysia, noting that national policy encourages guides to learn at least three foreign languages to enhance communication and service quality for international visitors.
