KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for parts of the peninsula and Sabah, until 1pm today.
MetMalaysia said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Pahang (Bera), Selangor (Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang), KL and Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol), and Sabah (Sandakan and Kudat).
The department said such warnings are issued when there are signs of thunderstorm activity with rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, either occurring or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The short-term warning remains in effect for no more than six hours from the time of issuance.
