KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several states and federal territories, including areas in the Klang Valley, effective until 11am today.
The department said heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in parts of Selangor, particularly Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang, as well as in Putrajaya.
Residents in these areas have been advised to stay alert for possible flash floods and falling trees due to strong winds.
MetMalaysia said similar weather conditions are also forecast in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Johor and parts of Sarawak.
It added that the alert was issued after signs showed rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour that could persist for more than an hour.
The department reminded the public that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, typically valid for no more than six hours from the time of issuance.
