KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Police have arrested three men believed to be involved in the assault of a 12-year-old boy near a food court at a People’s Housing Project (PPR) here recently.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the three local men, aged between 49 and 61, were detained at separate locations in and Kuala Lumpur between yesterday and today.

Preliminary investigations found that the incident allegedly occurred after the suspects accused the victim of stealing a friend’s power bank.

“As a result of the incident, the victim sustained minor injuries to his forehead and mouth, and received treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil said the case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.

A video showing the victim sitting while being surrounded, punched, and kicked repeatedly by the three men had earlier gone viral on social media. — Bernama
