TH Launches ‘Thoriq Ya Hajj’ Virtual Walking Challenge For Future Pilgrims

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) — Lembaga (TH) has launched the “Thoriq Ya Hajj” programme, its first-ever virtual walking challenge for prospective pilgrims, to help strengthen their health and physical preparedness ahead of the 1447H/2026M haj season.

TH chief executive officer Mustakim Mohamad said the initiative reflects TH’s continued commitment to emphasising istito’ah, or the capability to perform haj, while promoting a healthy lifestyle among future pilgrims.

“The haj pilgrimage demands a high level of physical strength and endurance. For instance, in the Holy Land, muassasah pilgrims typically walk about two kilometres between their hotels and the mosque.

“During the Masyair operations, the walking distance can increase to more than seven kilometres when pilgrims travel from Mina to Jamarat for the stoning ritual,” he said in a statement today.

Mustakim said “Thoriq Ya Hajj” serves as a platform for pilgrims to gradually build stamina as they prepare physically and mentally for the challenges of performing the haj.

The two-month individual programme is open to participants of the Basic Haj Course and is divided into two age categories: 55 years and below, and 56 years and above.

Participants are required to download the Pacer mobile application to record their daily steps throughout the competition period.

“The phrase ‘Thoriq Ya Hajj’ is commonly heard in the Holy Land, often uttered by mosque guards, and means ‘Walk on, pilgrims’.

“A total of 100 participants from each category with the highest number of steps will receive exclusive TH limited-edition merchandise,” Mustakim said.

Meanwhile, he said TH is conducting a series of Basic Haj Course at over 200 mosques nationwide since Oct 3, covering modules such as fiqh manasik (haj rituals), fardu ain, purification, prayer, women’s fiqh, health and haj management.

“TH remains committed to providing the best guidance for our prospective pilgrims. Alhamdulillah, Malaysian pilgrims have consistently received praise from the Saudi government and international pilgrims for their strong understanding of haj procedures,” he said.

A total of 13 course sessions will be conducted in stages in collaboration with State Islamic Religious Departments and Mosque Committees. Prospective pilgrims can check the schedule and register through TH’s official website.
