Years after it was first announced, the construction of the EV charging hub at the Seremban R&R (Southbound) area has finally begun. The groundbreaking ceremony of the new hub, which is now officially called the Terra ChargEV, took place earlier this month.

Terra ChargEV is actually the name of the joint venture entity that was formed by PLUS and Yinson GreenTech (YGT) to spearhead the project. For those who are not familiar with YGT, it is the company that operates the ChargEV EV charging network and is part of the global energy infrastructure conglomerate, Yinson Holdings Berhad.
With a total power capacity of 1.2MW, the new Terra ChargeEV hub at Seremban R&R (Southbound) will feature 20 DC chargers that support dynamic power sharing. Expected to be operational in early 2027, each charger is capable of supporting a DC charging speed of up to 350kW – at least that’s what the Works Minister, Alexander Nanti Linggi, told us during the press conference after the groundbreaking ceremony.
A long time coming

We first heard of the PLUS and YGT’s plan to build an EV charging hub in Seremban R&R in mid-2023. At that time, they were considering deploying 8 fast charging bays with a maximum DC charging speed of 350kW.

The plan was then mentioned again in March 2024, but the joint venture agreement was finally signed more than a year later in June 2025. So, it might take a while for the project to finally gain traction, but in hindsight, it appears that the delay allows both parties to update their original plan to be in line with the rapid growth of EVs in Malaysia.
Terra ChargEV Seremban R&R is not just about EV charging

PLUS boldly claims that the new Terra ChargeEV hub is the first highway integrated EV charging hub in Malaysia. The foundation behind the claim is rather solid, as the hub will not only provide EV charging facilities but also other ancillary services.
At Terra ChargEV Seremban R&R, there will be the usual R&R amenities such as restrooms and surau, while there will also be food & beverage (F&B) outlets as well, including a drive-thru restaurant.

According to the presentation slide shown during the hub’s groundbreaking ceremony, the list of confirmed retailers so far includes Luckin’ Coffee, MyNews, Maru Coffee (which is actually MyNews’ coffee brand), Texas Chicken, Chagee, Zus Coffee, GoPizza, and Ayam & Rice.
Other than that, there will also be 30 additional car parks for patrons who don’t drive EVs or EV owners who are not charging their vehicles at the hub. As you may expect, the hub has been designed with solar infrastructure, in line with the government’s commitment towards renewable energy.

Overall, the Terra ChargEV Seremban R&R hub ticked all the boxes for EV owners who are looking for a rest area on the highway that offers ample amenities and a variety of F&B options alongside a reliable EV charging facility that can quickly charge their vehicle. Of course, we still have to see in 2027 whether the new JV manage to deliver everything that it has promised for the new hub.
More integrated EV charging hubs coming soon on the PLUS highway?

While it may take years to establish the EV charging hub at Seremban R&R, EV owners can expect to see more of them throughout PLUS’ highway network soon.
This was confirmed by the Managing Director of PLUS, Nik Airina Nik Jaffar, who said that the company already has a long-term plan to develop similar EV charging hubs in the near future. During the post-event press conference, Works Minister also told media members that 10 more hubs will be built within the next 3 to 5 years.

PLUS is currently aiming to have 350 EV charging points throughout Malaysia by 2028. There are currently 140 charging points across the PLUS highway network.
There’s also another upcoming massive EV charging hub nearby

Interestingly enough, Terra ChargEV is not the only company aiming to set the benchmark for highway EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia. Real estate outfit Levn Capital is on the same mission as well, through the EV Charging Corridor (EVCC) Pedas RSA project that is located just 34km away from Seremban R&R.
Levn Capital and EVCC Pedas RSA first came to our attention when Tesla listed the real estate company as one of their partner for Supercharger deployment in 2023. According to its official website, the hub will feature 350kW DC chargers but didn’t reveal the number of chargers that will be available there.

Nevertheless, it named Tesla and Gentari as the CPOs who will deploy EV chargers at EVCC Pedas RSA. The website has also listed 23 retailers, including McDonald’s, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Tealive, that will occupy the hub’s 3 drive-thru buildings.
Even though it is EV-oriented, EVCC Pedas RSA will also have Petronas and Shell petrol stations to serve ICE vehicles. The hub was already 52% completed as of July this year and is expected to be operational in Q1 2026.
