PETALING JAYA: Terengganu Umno Youth has apologised for an error in a Jalur Gemilang graphic posted on its social media.
Its chief, Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera, said the mistake was made by a freelance graphic designer.
“I just spoke to Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr Akmal Salleh (Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh) regarding a post on the Terengganu Umno Youth page about a poster of the Jalur Gemilang that allegedly had fewer stripes than it should,” he said.
He thanked Malaysians for bringing the issue to their attention and said Terengganu Umno Youth would not compromise on the matter.
“I will not defend him even though he did it for us for free. We will leave it to the authorities to investigate the matter.
“Terengganu Umno Youth will not compromise on this mistake,” he added in a video posted on Facebook.
On Sunday, police arrested a 59-year-old man in connection with the display of the Jalur Gemilang flown upside down at a shop in Kepala Batas, following reports made across the country.
Akmal had spoken up on the matter.
A total of 16 police reports had been received nationwide regarding the incident, with 12 of them lodged in Penang and four in other states.
