PETALING JAYA:

A 14-year-old student of a secondary school in Bandar Utama was charged at the magistrates’ court here today with the murder of a female schoolmate.

FMT understands that the charge was read to him before magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal. However, no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The proceedings were held in camera as the case involves a juvenile.

According to the charge sheet made available to the media, the teen is accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolmate in the girls’ toilet at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4), here, on Oct 14 between 9.20am and 9.35am.

Deputy public prosecutors Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Nur Sabrina Zubairi handled the prosecution.

Lawyer Ezzad Zainal represented the accused.

The court fixed Nov 21 for case management.

Earlier, the accused arrived in an unmarked police van at about 8.30am. He was escorted into the court complex through an alternative route, avoiding media members waiting at the building lobby.
