KUALA LUMPUR: In a collaboration marking a new chapter for women’s health in Malaysia, Teal Asia, one of the country’s first survivor-led cervical cancer movements, has joined forces with Watsons Malaysia and the ROSE Foundation to commemorate the World Health Organization (WHO) World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day (WCCED) in Malaysia.

Teal Asia’s initiative aligns with WHO’s call for a global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, a preventable and treatable disease that continues to claim lives unnecessarily. It brings together a diverse group of partners and collaborators committed to raising awareness, empowering communities, and accelerating progress towards achieving the WHO’s elimination targets by 2030.

Founded by Selina Yeop Jr, a WHO-recognised patient advocate, Teal Asia represents more than creating awareness, it is a movement born from lived experience with a mission to normalise conversations about cervical cancer by meeting people where they already are through fashion, fitness, retail and community.

This year’s WCCED collaboration with Watsons Malaysia marks the movement’s boldest step yet in bringing the message to millions. As the health and beauty partner, Watsons is activating its nationwide network to spark life-saving conversations around cervical cancer prevention.

Throughout the month of November, Watsons stores nationwide will feature teal-themed awareness materials and Pharmacists will wear Teal Asia’s signature button badges on their coats and engage customers in meaningful conversations about cervical cancer prevention, the importance of HPV screening and how early detection can save lives.

“At Watsons, we believe that beauty and wellness go hand in hand with purpose.

“By partnering with Teal Asia and the ROSE Foundation for World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, we are empowering customers and communities with life-saving knowledge, raising awareness and driving education to protect future generations.

“This is the impact we are proud to stand behind,” said Watsons Malaysia managing director and AS Watson Group Health and Beauty Asia chief operating officer Caryn Loh.

This partnership also marks a cultural shift in how health and beauty retail can champion public health. Leveraging its national footprint and trusted relationship with consumers, Watsons is turning retail spaces into platforms for change — helping to normalise conversations around women’s health, break down barriers and stigma around cervical cancer.

Teal Asia has curated an exciting lineup of events throughout the week, from an exclusive corporate dinner and a wellness-focused pickleball and padel tournament to insightful corporate talks. Each event has been thoughtfully designed to engage different segments of the community, where awareness can flourish and collective action feels not only possible, but personal.

Together, Teal Asia and Watsons are inviting Malaysians to be part of a movement that celebrates resilience, supports survivors and accelerates progress toward a cervical cancer-free future.
