Teacher who slit wife's throat to be charged tomorrow

BALIK PULAU: The teacher who slit his wife’s throat with a kitchen knife in an incident at Taman Tunas Muda, Sungai Ara near here last Wednesday, will be charged in court tomorrow.

“The man who slit his wife will be charged tomorrow,” southwest district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said in a brief message.

Last Saturday, the 30-year-old teacher was remanded for six days to allow police to investigate the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

His remand order expires tomorrow.

It was reported that pressure from a bank loan and “buy now, pay later” instalments is believed to have sparked the fight that led to the attack.

In the 6am incident on Aug 27, the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with a kitchen knife before turning the weapon on himself.
